My dd will be 4 months old in a week. She has been a bad feeder, and she is now on the bottle. We have major problems trying to get her to drink and it is really starting to get to me now (am getting very stressed), doctors don't seem to have any answers for her small appetite, she is going in for another weigh in today. She has been worse the last few days, struggling to even get her to drink 40ml & then even after 5-6 hours she is still not hungry!! Normally, we try to feed her 4-5 hourly (any sooner and she is simply not interested), then it takes an hour to get her to drink 100ml, drinks the bottle in stages of about 20-30 ml at a time! Anyone else with bubbies that aren't drinking anywhere near the recomended amounts? She will probably only have 400ml over a 24 hr period & she is now about 4.8 kilos. Plunket have advised of course that she should be drinking aroun 800ml, but how can I get her to do this? She is on Neocate formula, as she has eczema, we have tried all sorts of faster flowing teats & diferent teats etc but nothing seems to increase her need for feeding. Yesterday was a particularly bad day and she only had 200ml the whole day & we ended up having to syringe feed her to get fluids into her as she had dry nappies. (this was very time consuming especially with 2 toddler boys running around as well). HELP - Anyone?? Am getting stressed & dreading each time I try to feed her as she just cries now when I put the bottle in her mouth. (hopefuly the doctor might have some answers this afternoon).
